Vacation to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – part 1

I was asked to be a groomsmaid for a good friend’s wedding in June. Yup, I was standing on the grooms side opposite one of the bride’s good friends, her “bridesman”. This wedding was the perfect time to see old friends, and a chance to bring J to “the UP.” I went to college in the UP, so it’s practically home to me. The pre-wedding ceremonies were a lot of fun. We had a women’s brunch at a local tea house 20120724-210121.jpg

And, of course, the bachelorette party. And, boy, does this chick know how to party. (most pictures are off-limits, hehe). 20120724-210328.jpg

The wedding itself was absolutely beautiful! It was a catholic ceremony in a gorgeous cathedral that needed no extra decorations.

Between the ceremony and reception, the bride and groom rented a trolley to take the wedding party around to get some truly unique pictures. They fed us Jimmy John’s and beer on the bus (that’s the UP for ya, eh?). We visited a beach where we got to hike in our dress clothes, a playground, and even a monastery where the monks make the most amazing jam and baked goods!

The reception was fairly casual, which made for a great time to chat with friends and celebrate with the newlyweds!

About casadezhang

J and I got married in August 2010, and purchased our first house in May 2012. I decided to start a blog so I can ramble on about all the thing I find interesting. How is this different than any other home/life blog? It's probably not - but I just like to talk :). I'm not the best at updating my blogs, but I'll try to update at least once a week, or whenever anything interesting happens :).
